Please note: effective June 30, 2006 the Microsoft
FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for UNIX have been End-of-Lifed. The
FAQ, Discussion Groups, and other documentation have been removed as this
material is the property of Microsoft. RTR can no longer
provide the FPSE's for download or distribution.
RTR will not respond individually to your request for the Server Extensions. There are no plans for a FP2003 Server Extensions for

Ready-to-Run Software will still provide support for FPSE
2002 for existing installations on operating system/Apache
combinations that were considered supported at the end of June 2006.
With the conclusion of RTR's support agreement with Microsoft, we can no
longer provide the initial free response/suggestions that we have in the

These are answers to the most common
questions that we are receiving now that the Unix/Linux FrontPage Server
Extensions have entered "end-of-life".
May I continue to use the extensions that
I have previously downloaded and installed?

the extensions that I have previously downloaded and installed?
Yes - you may continue to use the FPSE kit that you have previously
downloaded. There will be no future releases, bug fixes or
security patches.

Where can I get the
latest Unix/Linux FrontPage Server Extensions?
The FPSE kits are no longer available for download.

No, unfortunately, end-of-life really means end-of-life.

Do I have the latest
version of the FrontPage Server Extensions?
If you run "/usr/local/frontpage/version5.0/bin/owsadm.exe -version" and
it displays "Version: 5.0.2.4803", then you have the last version
released with all of the security patches. If not, then you should
research Microsoft's web site to determine if the security patches that
you are missing might affect your site

When was the
end-of-life plan announced?
The FPSE end-of-life plan was announced in November 2004. In
addition, an email was sent to all registered users in May of 2006 with
a reminder of the end-of-life date and announcement of the May 2006
security update.

Does
Microsoft/RTR have a Unix/Linux alternative to FPSE?
No, there is no Unix/Linux FPSE alternative.

May I distribute the
FPSE kit(s) that I have previously downloaded?
No.

I found extensions on the Microsoft site, can I use them?
You can use them, but you should be aware that they do not have any of the security fixes that have been released and do not support Apache 2. Microsoft has end-of-lifed this product and will be removing them from their site. It may take up to 6 months for this to occur.
