Ready-to-Run Software Offers
Hosting Services As Disaster Relief
N. Chelmsford, MA – October 4, 2001 –
Ready-to-Run Software (RTR), an engineering services firm based in North
Chelmsford MA, was saddened by the disaster of September 11 and moved
quickly to offer assistance. After the attack, the company recognized the
tremendous loss of infrastructure by the firms housed in and around ‘ground
zero’ and decided to do something tangible. Ready-to-Run has opened up its
Porting Center comprised of diverse hardware and software to act as a
limited hosting service through the end of the year at no charge to any
company that has lost computing capability as a result of the disaster.
RTR operates a computing center with
equipment manufactured by Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, Compaq, IBM,
SGI and others. In their Porting Center, RTR maintains older versions of
operating systems such as Solaris 2.4, HP-UX 9.0 and many others that might
have been used by companies in the World Trade Center to run non-mission
critical applications. Getting access to these prior releases can be a
logistical problem that RTR is able to help resolve.
Jeff Moskow, CEO of RTR, said “We felt the
need to contribute and to do so in a way that, perhaps, will uniquely and
immediately serve the companies affected. There may be very few, if any,
companies that can offer the wide range of actively maintained, former
releases of hardware and software that RTR can provide. Hopefully, our
resources can be extended to those in need.” Companies can contact
